100 Most Frequently Challenged Books, 1990-2000

"Banned Books Week" was most recently observed last September, but I say, never blog today what can be put off until tomorrow, so this is only appearing now. I thought that the list, below, of "most frequently challenged books" was interesting. Some of them kind of make sense to me in that they seem inappropriate for young children; others, not so much. I wonder how different the books from 2000-2010 will look. Will there be...ack!...science textbooks on the list? (Click here for the 10 most challenged books in 2005, including the ever-popular Catcher in the Rye.)

The ones that are in bold typeface are the ones that I remember reading, but I think I might have read more of these than that. There are definitely many authors listed here whose other books I've read.
