How is this possible?!

I SO do not have a Boston accent! What are they talking about?!

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: Boston

You definitely have a Boston accent, even if you think you don't. Of course, that doesn't mean you are from the Boston area, you may also be from New Hampshire or Maine.

On the other hand, I believe that this is true:

You paid attention during 80% of high school!

68-84% Pretty good, you know that there are libraries and newspapers, and you remember what you've read. You were a child that wasn't left behind!

Do you deserve your high school diploma?

I paid attention during 100% of high school!

What can I say, I had nothing else to do.

Don't worry, I didn't do that much else. When I wasn't paying attention I was reading books inside my desk (elementary school) or writing poems (high school), or sometimes out in the hallway, just taking a break because I was bored. Obviously, I wasn't bored because I knew it all already! (At most, I knew 80% of it.)

I dunno, the accent quiz worked fine for me. Here's what it said: Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.

I had the impression that the quiz was mostly trying to tell whether I was from Arkansas or Wisconsin, not whether I was from Brooklyn or the Bronx. It would have been better if it had branched out into different questions, depending on your answers to previous questions.

If it makes you feel any better, it said that I also had a Boston accent. Apparently I paid attention during 97% of high school, but I think some of those things I picked up during my travels and not necessarily during high school. --MLG

Yeah, I also apparently paid attention during 100% of high school, according to the quiz, but I think I learned most of that stuff through outside reading and conversation...

I got a 97%, but I definitely didn't pay attention in high school, so it must have come from all the TV I watch. See, I told you books poison the mind!

As for my accent, I have a "Midland" accent. Here's what it has to say about that: "'You have a Midland accent' is just another way of saying 'you don't have an accent.' You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio."

TV and radio! Nice! The two places I spent most of the time (Boston and California) come in 4th and 6th out of 8 on the strength of my accent.
