Secret to living a good life

Here is one secret, as shared by Raul Gutierrez. I thought this post was beautiful and provided much food for thought. (Hat tip to the Patriarch.) I described something related, only much less eloquent, here. Maybe a good way to describe the relationship between his beautiful post and my exhilarated declaration is that Raul described the phenomenon and I gave an example of it.

This IS beautiful, but I don't think that what you wrote is any less eloquent. His remark near the end, "So the important thing is not to hold onto that moment, but to be in it and let it change you," reminds me of some lines by William Blake that I first read when I was younger than you are now, and that I wanted to memorize, though I wasn't quite young enough to memorize them permanently, so I have to look them up in Bartlett's whenever I want to recall them:

He who binds himself to a joy
Does the winged life destroy;
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sunrise.

Come to think of it, maybe memorizing them permanently would contradict them.
